Holiday Food : Baked Brie!

Who doesn’t love cheese? It’s like chocolate….anyone who doesn’t like it is just weird! There are so many different kinds, tastes, flavors, textures that there is surely one out there that everyone likes. And one of the best ways to enjoy it is when it’s hot and gooey! So this year for our holiday meal we decided we are going to make some KickAss baked brie! If you’ve never had brie then you don’t know what your missing! It’s a soft cheese with a slight tang to it, but it is AMAZING on crackers, and well…just about anything! Add to it the addition of cranberries and a sprinkle of brown sugar and you have an amazing holiday treat for everyone!


  • 1 wedge ( or whole wheel) of brie
  • 1 large puff pastry sheet or pie dough
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or cherries
  • 1/4 cup sliced and toasted almonds
  • 1 TBSP of brown sugar
  • 1 Egg, beaten


First heat your oven to 400 degree.Then, take your brie and cut it horizontally in half.  Layer the cranberries and almonds on the bottom half, and sprinkle with the brown sugar. Place the top half back on. Lay out your pastry dough and place the brie in the middle. Brush the top of your brie with the beaten egg. Wrap the dough around the brie until it is completely covered, trimming off any excess. Brush the top of the pastry with the egg mixture. Place brie on a baking sheet lines with parchment paper and bake for 20-30 minutes until the pastry begins to turn golden. Then turn the temperature down to 325 degrees and back for 20 minutes. Take out and enjoy!

For an added touch, you can make a sauce with 8 oz of whatever fruit you  like, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water. Just bring this all to a hard simmer and cook until it coats the back of a spoon.  Drizzle over the brie for an added punch!
