Blackened Tuna Steaks!

One of my favorite things to do with chicken and seafood is to give it a little spice with the help of “blackening”. Basically, all blackening means is throwing a bunch of herbs together and coating your meat vessel of choice with it. The end result should have a nice charred ( although it’s not) look and should be fairly spicy! Which, if you don’t know by now, spicy is our middle name!! This recipe takes tuna steaks to a whole other level! From the marinade to the seasoning, this is just an awesomely KickAss way to enjoy tuna……or chickcn…..or shrimp….ha…well anything you desire to to add a flavor punch to as big as the gap in Mike Tyson’s teeth! Enjoy!

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons sal
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
Method :
Mix together 1 1/2 tsp olive oil, lime juice, and garlic. Put the steaks into a large ziplock bag and dump this concoction on top, mixing well. Let marinate for 2-3 hours. Meanwhile, mix all of the spices together in a small sealable bowl. Once the steaks have marinated, pull them out and pat dry. Heat 2 tbs of olive oil in a non-stick pan. Dip each side of the steak into your spice mixture and cook steaks 2 at a time for 3 minutes on each side, using more olive oil for the second round of steaks. Remove to a serving plate. You can cover this with your favorite fruity salsa or chutney and BAM, instant FoodPorn!
